Some of the Brands We’ve Supported Over the Years

Our experience working with top powersports OEMs has shaped who we are, but our capabilities extend far beyond. Whether you’re in automotive, industrial, foodservice, or consumer products, we’re ready to help.

Our Story

In the early 1970s, our founder Tim McCool began hand-building custom exhaust systems for motorcycles out of his garage under the name T&M Engineering. His dedication to craftsmanship quickly earned a reputation among riders who wanted better performance and attention to detail they couldn’t find in mass-produced parts at the time.

With demand growing and new opportunities emerging, in 1977 Tim formally founded Cobra Engineering, leased a larger building, and started assembling a team that would fuel his future success. Initially Cobra found a market manufacturing accessories for dirt bikes and ATV’s, both making products of our own design and doing private label manufacturing for companies such as FMF and Pro Circuit.

Cobra’s next milestone started in the mid 1980’s, when companies from Japan started selling cruisers in America. Cobra was the first to capitalize and took over the metric cruiser market, designing and manufacturing our own accessories, from light bars, full exhaust systems, racks, and freeway bars. As we built a reputation for quality, we would have the privilege to work for companies such as Honda, Kawasaki, Indian, Polaris, Harley-Davidson, and Victory Motorcycles.

In 2001, as Cobra Engineering continued to grow, Tim would go on to build a 85,000 sqft manufacturing facility from the ground up in Yorba Linda, California. Today Cobra continues to invest in its capabilities, hiring top talent, upgrading our machines, and improving our processes.

While motorcycles are in our DNA, our true passion is delivering quality products. We bring the same attention to detail, precision, and craftmanship that define our heritage to every project we take on, no matter the industry.
